Description
Tilia x europaea ‘Golden Sunset’ (Wiltil) is a golden leaved lime tree. It is a clone of the Common or European Lime tree. It is a fine new selection that has impressive almost fluorescent bright coral red shoots and buds in the winter months. These are followed by bright glowing lime/golden leaves in the spring which fade to a Lime or yellow green tinted leaf by mid summer.
Tilia x europaea ‘Golden Sunset’ is like all the other Limes in that it is excellent for making into a pleached or screening panel tree and the parent plant has graced many stately drives and entrance ways for centuries. Like the other varieties of Lime, Tilia x europaea ‘Golden Sunset’ will take hard pruning well and if cut hard back will put out masses of small stems which in the winter will be a stunning fluorescent coral red.
It will grow in nearly all conditions and is tolerant of both clay and chalky soils as well as being suitable for growing in exposed sites. It is also able to stand temporarily flooded ground.
This form of Tilia was discovered by the Owners of Readyhedge and is propagated in the United Kingdom. Tila x europaea ‘Golden Sunset’ (Wiltil) is a registered trade name and the plant is also protected under Plant Breeders Rights against unauthorised propagation.
We offer this with a 50cm and 130cm clear stem with a 150cm x 150cm panel of foliage on top.
