Description
Golden Privet (Ligustrum ov. Aureum)
Ligustrum ov. Aureum, commonly referred to as Golden Privet, is a semi-evergreen shrub renowned for its striking leaf coloration. Each leaf boasts a rich golden yellow edge surrounding a dark green centre, with some leaves occasionally appearing entirely yellow. Although it grows more slowly than the Green Privet (Ligustrum ovalifolium), it still forms a stunning hedge with a vibrant, eye-catching appearance.
This readybag hedging performs well in a variety of soils and aspects, similar to its green counterpart. To maintain a dense and attractive hedge, trim the top slightly narrower than the base, which helps keep leaves extending to the ground. While Golden Privet may shed some leaves in very cold winters, poor soil conditions, or windy locations, it reliably rejuvenates each spring, restoring its stunning appearance.
Perfect for smaller gardens, Ligustrum ov. Aureum adds a splash of colour and structure to any landscape. Recognised for its ornamental value, it received the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Merit in 1977 and the Award of Garden Merit in 1984. The readybag option ensures a vibrant and cohesive hedge solution for your garden.”
