Description

Prunus lau. Rotundifolia

Prunus lau. Rotundifolia, commonly referred to as Common Laurel or Cherry Laurel, is a large-leaved evergreen known for its vigorous growth and ability to provide instant privacy in any garden setting. This readybag pallet of 5 units features plants that can reach up to 5 meters in height if left untrimmed, though they are easily maintained at a height of 150 to 200 cm, making them perfect for dense, reliable hedging.

The large, leathery leaves of the Common Laurel are a dark, glossy green, offering excellent screening capabilities. This hedge is particularly effective in reducing noise pollution, as its dense foliage absorbs sound rather than reflecting it. Additionally, it can trap dust particles, helping to improve the surrounding environment.

Although it can be kept closely trimmed, the Prunus lau. Rotundifolia Readybag Pallet (5 units) shines when allowed to maintain a more natural, informal shape. If the hedge becomes too large, it can be pruned back severely and will regenerate with proper care, including feeding and additional watering.

Common Laurel flowers on the previous year’s growth, producing attractive white blooms followed by berries that change from red to black. However, regular trimming will likely prevent flowering. If grown near patios or decking, it’s advisable to remove any remaining flowers to avoid staining from fallen berries in autumn.

This form of Common Laurel was first recorded being grown in the United Kingdom around 1865.
