Ilex aq. Nellie Stevens

Description

Ilex aq. ‘Nellie Stevens’ is a selected form of Ilex aquifolium which is a British native plant.  Ilex aquifolium ‘Nellie Stevens’ is hardier than normal Holly.  Like the normal Holly it has dark green leaves and produces red berries which are produce in more copious quantities than the straight plant.  It is a great screening plant as it keeps its density right down to the bottom of the stem.  It is also a good plant for security as it has spikey leaves that are held close together making a hedge that is very nearly impossible to get though.

it is tolerant of atmospheric pollution making it great for planting in urban areas.  It will also grow in most soil types but it does not like poorly drained wet soils.  A good evergreen screening panel that can produce red berries in the right situation.

We only offer this with a 180cm clear stem and a 150cm x 150cm panel and it is also grown in limited numbers due to the time it takes to train and fill out a frame.
