Description
Grisellinia littoralis instant hedging is also sometimes known by the name ‘Broadleaf’. It is a native of New Zealand, Chile and parts of Brazil. It has a leathery leaf which has a very unusual colour, being an apple green and makes the perfect natural screening hedge in your landscaping project. As it comes from slightly more temperate climates than in the United Kingdom, it can be susceptible to frosts and cold winds, so is best planted in either coastal locations or sheltered inland areas and cities. It is happiest in a free draining soil but will grow in most soil types except poorly drained ones. It will form a very dense evergreen hedge and gives a great privacy screen.
Griselinia littoralis instant hedging was introduced to the United Kingdom around 1850 and was given an Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society in 1984.
